Gary is a traveler based in Canada with a love of the world's great walking trails. His long hikes include the Milford Track in New Zealand, the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage routes of Japan, the West Highland Way across the Scottish Highlands, and many days in his own backyard of the Canadian Rockies. In the spring of 2026 he walked the 309 kilometres of Wainwright's Coast to Coast, from the Irish Sea at St Bees to the North Sea at Robin Hood's Bay.

He will return to Japan this fall to walk 100km on the Nakasendo trail.
